I am quite picky when it comes to makeup. I know the coverage that I want, the finishes I prefer, and the formulas that work best for my skin. Since I started wearing and experimenting with makeup, I have been a ride-or-die drugstore gal. I had always wanted more high end products, but was never willing to shell out the cash especially when YouTube “beauty gurus” were telling me there were equally as good things at the drugstore! Since then, I’ve been on the lookout for the best products at the best price.
The products mentioned in this post have been tested by me time and time again and I cannot recommend them enough. There are a variety of products I did not mention (like eyeliners, eyeshadow palettes, and lip products) because I have not found any that I have fell 100% in love with. But when I do, I will make sure to share them with you. Also, do you have any holy grail makeup that’s under $10? Let me know!
We all need a good concealer in our makeup lives, but why shell out $20 or more on a high-end concealer when there’s one that works great at a drugstore price! The L.A. Girl Pro Conceal is creamy, pigmented, and doesn’t make my face look cake-y. I like to use the lighter shades, like “Light Ivory,” to hide my dark under-eye circles and highlight my face and the darker shades, like “Toast,” to contour my face (especially my nose). The best part about this concealer? It’s only $3.00 – $5.00 (depending on the size and where you purchase the product)!
If you haven’t heard of this mascara yet, where have you been? The L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Washable Mascara is hands down, the best drugstore mascara I have tried. When this product first launched, there were so many people raving about the amazing effects of this mascara. They were right. This mascara lengthens my lashes, adds volume, holds a curl, and doesn’t flake off throughout the day. Get it here for only $7.12!
For only $5.99, this foundation is well worth it’s price; it could even pass for a high end foundation. This foundation gives medium coverage (but can be built up to full), doesn’t cling to dry patches, has no flashback, and looks great in photos. I find that this foundation applies best with a beauty sponge. Also, if you are wondering, I am in the shade “Classic Beige.”
Another Wet n’ Wild product? Yup, that’s right. If you love blinding highlighters, you will want to check out this one. For only $7.99, you can get a glow that is comparable to Becca’s “Champagne Pop.” This is a must-have for your collection. Personally, my favorite shade is “Precious Petals,” a beautiful champagne-gold color.
I have been using Milani’s line of “baked blushes” for years. Each one that I have tried is beautifully pigmented, not streaky, and brings “life” back into my face. The most popular shade, “Luminoso,” is #1 on Amazon for face blushes (for only $7.49) and I totally agree. It gives such a natural flush to the face without being overbearing.
For only $8.00, I have found my favorite drugstore setting spray. Prior to discovering this setting spray, I used the Urban Decay “All Nighter” setting spray religiously but spending $30.00 per bottle really adds up. This NYX setting spray keeps my makeup locked-in all day and leaves me with a semi-matte finish (even though it is marketed as a “dewy finish”). I prefer the “dewy finish” better than the “matte finish” setting spray, but in the end it’s all personal preference.
I can say with confidence that this is my favorite drugstore foundation (and it only costs $5.99). I am in the shade “120 Classic Ivory.” This foundation gives medium-to-full coverage, lasts all day, and doesn’t cling to my dry patches (even though it says it is for normal to oily skin.) It also applies flawlessly with both a flat-top brush and a beauty sponge. Lastly, the shade range is amazing (compared to other drugstore foundation lines) and can fit lots of different skin tones. Note: the “Matte & Poreless” formula is my preferred Maybelline “Fit Me” formula.
This is my favorite drugstore primer that I have tried thus far. I don’t like face primers that are too “silicone-y” or don’t moisturize my skin enough (dry skin problems). This primer blurs my pores while leaving my skin feeling fresh and prepped.
