I have always had the travel bug. In my life, I haven’t traveled to many places (sad) but it’s one of my life goals. Traveling has always been such a gratifying and amazing experience. I love getting to see how people live on the other side of the world and immerse as much of the culture as I can. In my 20 years of life, I’ve traveled to: Canada, UK, France, Switzerland, Italy, Mexico, Bahamas, Honduras, and Belize. I am so grateful for all the places that I’ve been to and all the things I’ve got to experience. Here are some photos of my travels thus far:
Now onto my travel wishlist!
1. The “homeland”
I consider the “homeland” to be Cambodia and Laos. This is where I come from. This is where my parents grew up and is the root of my culture. Growing up, I always prided myself on being Southeast Asian. It was a unique culture and it made me feel unique too. I want to go back to the “homeland” because I want to fully experience where I come from and see where my parents grew up and became the people they are today. Cambodia is absolutely beautiful. Pictured above (left) is Angkor Wat, the most popular temple in the country and one of the wonders of the world. The other photo (on the right) is a temple in Laos and is shining in gold. I addition to the temples, I would love to eat the foods I’ve grown up with at the place that it came from! Hopefully, a trip here will come soon. 🙂
2. The French Polynesia
The French Polynesia is one of those places that you always see on travel channels or in magazines that look just completely unreal. Consisting of islands like Bora Bora, Tahiti, and Fiji, this is a dream destination. My parents just recently took a trip here for their 25th year anniversary and absolutely loved it. They got to go jet skiing, swim with manta rays, and snorkel in the crystal-clear water. Seeing all their photos and videos made me so jealous! The islands are beautiful. Not only that, my parents said the people who live on the island are some of the nicest people they’ve met while traveling. They even had to hitch-hike twice, and no problems came up! This is for sure a place I would love to visit.
Spain has always been at the top of my bucket list. To be completely honest, I’ve been longing to travel to Spain ever since I saw “The Cheetah Girls 2.” I wanted to dance around the streets of Spain and eat at cute coffee shops just like they did. My best friend’s family comes from Spain and they visit Seattle every other year. Each time they visit, I get to talk to my best friend’s cousin. He tells me all about his life in Spain: the fun attractions to visit and crazy stories he’s experienced. Just hearing these stories makes me want to go 10X more! I know one thing is for sure: when I finally visit Spain, I am asking him to be my personal tour guide.
Dubai is such an up-and-coming city with amazing beaches and even an indoor ski arena! With it’s beautiful beaches and a city that never sleeps, Dubai looks so fun to visit! Not only that, they have the most expensive hotel in the world. Not that I am going to stay in the hotel (though I wish that I could), I would definitely find myself walking around the lobby to take a little look.
Greece is stunning. I know that I’ve said this about every place I’ve listed so far, but it’s true! The city itself tells it’s own story and the architecture of the buildings is so unique. I know this sounds silly, but the Kardashians went to Greece and there were a few episodes that aired on the TV of their travel adventures. Minus the drama, how they portrayed the city made me long to travel there. I hope that one day I can take my mom there too (it’s also one of her dream destinations) and have a mother-daughter trip.
These are my top 5 travel destinations! I hope you enjoyed reading and that it made you want to travel too. What are your dream travel destinations?
